Basic SEO Services
This $1,000 package includes ten hours of our time devoted to the following basic SEO services:
- We begin by taking a quick look at how your online competition is doing with Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft Live Search. Using search terms we’ve discussed with you, we find out who your serious online competitors are, and — if they are doing well on search engine results pages — why they are doing well.
- Then we analyze your existing website, giving special attention to the text on your homepage and other important pages. That text should concisely and precisely say who you are and what you're offering.
The text on your homepage has to do two mission-critical things: (1) turn visitors to your site into customers very quickly, and (2) make it easy for the search engines to identify your most important search terms.
Being precise means making sure that nothing is vague or confusing, and being concise means eliminating any words or phrases that are unnecessary and therefore distracting.
Our technical analysis of your site involves looking at the HTML code, javascript, and other things in the files that make up your Website. We sometimes also take a look at the structure of your site's files on your Web server, checking for ease of access by the search engine "crawlers."
- At this point we email you our findings about your site and those of your competitors, and we make recommendations for changes to your site. We are happy to explain and discuss everything during a phone conversation with you before we move forward.
Our recommendations often focus on your site's content, which is critical for success with the search engines. We sometimes spend as much as half of our ten-hour commitment on content development — researching, writing, and/or editing text — depending, of course, on what you need and want. Our clients benefit from our skill and experience as writers and editors.
- We budget our time so that there is time at this point make the changes to your Web site that you have approved. If you prefer to have your own Web designer make the changes, we will be happy to work with him or her if you like.
- We add HitsLink code to each of your pages, so that we can monitor the traffic on your site, including referrals from the search engines. Allied Internet pays your HitsLink monthly fee for three months, at which point the account can be turned over to you if you would like to continue monitoring traffic on your site; fees are as low as $9.95 a month.
- After we've completed our work, we generate the special files requested by Google and Yahoo, and then submit your site to Google, Yahoo, Microsoft Live Search, and the DMOZ database. We then have a phone conversation with you about what we've done and about your long-term Internet marketing strategy. At this point, it's almost always best to wait about three months before evaluating the referrals you're getting from the search engines.
Small businesses like our basic ten-hour SEO package for several reasons:
- We work honestly and efficiently, keeping track of the actual time we spend working for you.
- If, during the process, we find that you would benefit from having more work done right away, we will let you know. But we will not try to upsell you unless we can explain why additional work would be to your advantage.
- We communicate with you during the process, and our work is typically completed within two weeks, usually less.

You can buy paid ads on the search engine results pages, of course, but your real goal is to be listed towards the top of the “generic” or “organic” listings. Some reports about how people ignore the paid ads on the top and to the left of the generic listings are sobering, by the way. At any rate, pay-per-click should ordinarily be a temporary strategy.
